Privacy policy
Effective from 14 October 2026.
Storyvoy is made for children and collects as little as possible: the app works without names, e-mail, sign-in or any other details about you or your child. Only if a grown-up makes a book of their own do you send the names and descriptions you choose, and they are used for that book only.
Who is responsible
Minrik AB (company number 559384-0191), Brobyvägen 30, 187 35 Täby, Sweden, is the data controller. Contact: support@storyvoy.com.
What we store
- An anonymous account for the device: a random account ID and a secret key kept only on the phone; we store only a hash of the key. With the account we also keep when the app was last used and which version of the app and of the phone's system (iOS or Android) it ran, so we can help if something goes wrong. No phone name, model or device ID.
- Profiles a grown-up adds: a nickname and an animal picture, nothing else. A removed profile's nickname is not kept.
- Listening progress: which chapters and endings were played in which book, so they survive a reinstall. We also add them up into statistics per book and day, such as how many listened to the end and which paths were chosen, to make the books better. The statistics hold no account ID and can't be tied to a phone or a child.
- Favourites and ratings: which books a profile has as favourites and how many stars (1–5) it gave a book, so they survive a reinstall. The ratings are also added up per book for the shelf "Barnens favoriter" (children's favourites), and the listens for "Populära just nu" (popular right now); neither shows any account, profile or nickname.
- How much data the books send: for each file downloaded we count the book, language, kind of file and size, so we know how much sound and pictures are sent. The count holds no account ID, no IP address and nothing about the phone.
- Purchases: the subscription is bought in the app store (Apple or Google), which takes the payment and holds your payment details; we never see who you are or how you paid. RevenueCat checks the receipt for us and receives the anonymous account ID and the purchase. Linked to the anonymous account, we keep whether the subscription is active and until when, and for each event (start, trial, renewal, cancellation, refund) the product, price and currency, VAT and fee, transaction IDs, country and, if given, the reason for a cancellation.
- Subscriptions or credits we give, for example to testers: start and end dates and a short note for us, tied to the anonymous account. The support code in the app's settings is the start of the account ID; you only share it if you want to.
- Your own books (when your version of the app has them): what a grown-up writes when making a book, that is what the story is about, the characters' names and any descriptions you choose to add (such as age, looks and interests), the age group and the picture style. It may be about your own child, so write only what you want in the book. We use it to check that the idea suits a children's book, write the story, draw the pictures and read it aloud. The storyline you approve is kept for 30 days. Only your account can open the finished book (text, pictures and audio). The working files from making the book are deleted from our server 30 days after the book is done or cancelled. With the account we also keep how many credits you have and what they were used for. Our log of how the book was made holds no names. If something goes wrong with a book, we may look at the order to fix it.
- Feedback a grown-up sends from the app's settings: the message, an e-mail address if you want an answer (optional), the app's version and system version and the language, tied to the anonymous account. We use it to answer you and to improve the app. The message is sent to us by e-mail through the mail service Resend, to our mailbox at Google Workspace. Nothing about the children is sent.
Apart from what you write in a book of your own or in feedback, we store no names or e-mail addresses, and we store no phone numbers, locations, contacts, photos, advertising IDs or device identifiers. The app has no ads and no analytics or tracking tools from other companies. Settings, downloaded books and which profile is listening stay on the phone.
The storyvoy.com website counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It uses no cookies and stores nothing on your device; we only see added-up figures, such as the number of visits, the pages viewed, the country and the kind of browser.
Why
To run the app, back up progress and profiles, give access to subscription books and make the books you order. The legal basis is the agreement to use the app; purchase records are also kept to meet the Swedish Bookkeeping Act (a legal obligation). The statistics on how books are listened to rest on our legitimate interest in improving the books; they are added up and anonymous.
Where
With our processors: Cloudflare (servers and files), Neon (database), Hetzner (the server that makes your own books), for your own books OpenAI (text, pictures and the idea check) and ElevenLabs (reading aloud), for purchases RevenueCat and Apple or Google, and for feedback Resend (which sends the e-mail) and Google Workspace (our e-mail). The database, the audio files and the server that makes your own books are in the EU (Neon in Frankfurt, Cloudflare R2 under EU jurisdiction, Hetzner in the EU). Cloudflare's servers answer from the location nearest the phone, so a request may be handled outside the EU/EEA, and Cloudflare, OpenAI, ElevenLabs, RevenueCat, Resend and Google are US companies. OpenAI and ElevenLabs get only what the book needs, no account ID. Such transfers are covered by the EU's standard contractual clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
How long, and your rights
Until you delete it: Settings → Delete all data removes the account, profiles, progress, your own books and your feedback from the phone and from us. We also delete feedback ourselves a year after it was sent. The e-mail copy of a feedback message in our mailbox stays until you ask us to delete it: write to us, and we delete the message and the e-mail with it. The added-up statistics stay, as they can't be tied to anyone. Purchase records are kept for at least seven years, as the Bookkeeping Act requires; deleting the account removes their link to it. You may ask what we store, have it corrected or deleted, and object, at support@storyvoy.com, and complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (imy.se).
